Campus Safety/Campus Visitors
School safety is a big concern for us here at Grand Oaks. ALL parents and volunteers must sign in at the office and receive a visitor's pass. IT IS THE LAW!!!
Remember to check with the office when you want to take your child out of school during school hours. This is for the safety of all our students.
For safety, we appreciate you waiting at the gates after school when picking up your child. Sometimes teachers do not see you pick up your child when you are waiting by the classroom.
Please send a note with your child in the morning if he/she needs to be released during the school day for a scheduled appointment. This will help the teacher know ahead of time and will be less disruptive to the class. It is imperative that everyone who comes onto our campus stop by the office and sign in and receive a visitor's pass. Please do not head to your child's classroom with out checking in.
The southwest gate will be locked from 8:05am until 2:00pm. This is to help us ensure that each child or visitor checks in and out during instructional hours. You will need to enter the campus through the double doors next to the gym/cafeteria.
Please remember there is NO SUPERVISION before 7:15am in the morning.
For your child's safety, DO NOT allow your child to be at school prior to that time. Students cannot get into the classrooms that early and they have no where to wait except on the playground, which may still be dark at that hour.
Thank you for your help in keeping our campus safe.
STUDENT INFORMATION CHANGES
Please notify the school office as soon as possible if you have a change in phone numbers, contact persons, or an address change.
The school needs to have updated information in the event of an emergency. It can be very frightening for a child to be hurt or sick and we cannot contact you.
You can phone the school office at 275-7040 at any time. If no one answers, please leave a message and we will immediately update your information. Thank you for your help in keeping our records updated.
ATTENDANCE:
Please call the school by 8:30 a.m. to report absences (275-7040). This will help us account for all children, and ensure they arrived safely to school. If we do not receive a phone call or note, we are required to record the absence as unexcused.
Students with perfect attendance during the month are recognized and rewarded at our awards assemblies.
All visitors must sign in and receive a visitor's pass. It is the law.

Dismissal of classes is at 2:00 p.m. every day except Monday. Every Monday is a minimum day. School is dismissed at 1:00 p.m. If you transport your child, please arrange to have your child picked up immediately after school. You will need to notify the office in the morning if your child will be changing his/her bus routine. This will allow plenty of time to pass the message to your child and the teacher.
We are obligated to have your child return home according to his/her established routine if that changes, YOU MUST NOTIFY US!
MEDICATIONS ON CAMPUS:
Please be advised that all student medications must be kept in the school office. A prescription and over-the-counter medication form needs to be on file and signed by the physician. Medications will not be accepted or allowed without the appropriate, completed form. Forms are available in the school office.
CELL PHONES:
Parents who wish to have their students carry a cell phone during the school day must complete a Cell Phone Permit and follow the rule that the phone is to be turned off and kept in a backpack or purse from the time they enter the campus before school starts until the time they leave campus after school is dismissed. The phone may not be visible at school. The school assumes NO responsibility for theft and/or damage.
PARKING LOT & TRAFFIC SAFETY:
Please remember to drive slowly and watch for children. Be courteous to other drivers.
During bus loading times, and after school dismissal, the parking lot will be closed until the buses leave.
