A Message from the Principal

A brief look back at November reflects on our very special dedication to Veteran’s Day. Grand Oaks students participated in the annual Veteran’s Day assembly on November 7th.  Our music teacher, Ms. Beadle led our third and fourth graders through a variety of songs celebrating the dedication of our veteran’s and the freedom they have helped establish. Fifth graders took the microphone and shared some inspiring speeches to emphasize the meaning of Veteran’s Day. Grand Oaks was blessed by the presence of veteran’s from our own staff as well as the community who were recognized for their commitment to our country. Students from Grand Oaks also had the chance to represent our school in the Shasta Lake Veteran’s Day Parade on Saturday, November 4th. Mrs. Ochoa led the charge and assembled a team that included a replica of a tank, student participation and American flags and candy passed out to the onlookers lining the parade. These November events were great opportunities to teach our students the importance of Veteran’s Day.

December arrives with the holiday spirit in the air. We will host our monthly assembly on Friday, December 15th. The assembly will be followed by our annual winter concerts. All of the concerts this year will be performed in our very own multipurpose room. The first concert will include the kindergarten and first graders on Monday, December 18th at 5:30p.m. The second night of winter performances, on Tuesday, December 19th, will include the second and third graders performing at 5:30p.m. followed by the fourth and fifth graders at 6:00p.m. There is nothing better than watching your very own student performing on stage. So set your calendars and come enjoy an evening of singing youngsters.
