A Message from the Principal

Students are in full swing of their spring assessments. Third through fifth graders just completed their CAASPP testing and all students will be participating in the NWEA reading and math assessments the next two weeks. The final assessments of the year provide the opportunity for students to show all that they have learned for this school year. We will use this information to identify strengths and weaknesses for each individual student and use it to find ways to improve learning at Grand Oaks School. We thank all of the students and families for doing their best on these assessments to make them a great measuring tool.

In addition to assessments, students will have the opportunity to participate in multiple learning opportunities at Grand Oaks. Kindergarteners will head to Simpson University on the 11th to learn about college opportunities at Kinder College. All families are invited to observe this year’s academic accomplishments at Open House on the 17th. We will follow with the May assembly on the 18th. Kindergarteners and first graders will head to Turtle Bay Exploration Park for their field trip on the 22nd. All students and parents that are interested will take part in our annual Math Fair taking place on the 24th. Third grade will be headed to the Shasta Historical Park for their field trip on the 25th. All volunteers that helped the school this year will be honored at our Volunteer Breakfast the morning of the 29th. Grand Oaks students will share their talents in front of the entire student body at the spring Talent Show on Friday, June 1st. Every student will be allowed to participate in our Nutrition Olympics taking place on June 4th. Our final assembly of the year will occur on June 5th and the 4th and 5th graders will attend their field trip to Waterworks Park that same day. School ends on Wednesday, June 6th. The highlight of the day will be kindergarten promotion at 9:00.  Followed by a whole school kickball game at 10:00  on the upper field.  We will finish off the year with a minimum Day. As you can see, the remainder of the year is packed with continued opportunities to learn and cap off a great year of academic accomplishments. What a way to cap off a successful year of learning.
